Additive Manufacturing (AM), popularly known as 3D printing, has the potential to become a leading-edge manufacturing technology as it transitions from prototyping to the production of functional parts. The technology is rapidly maturing for the manufacturing of non-critical metallic components, and OEMs and manufacturers are now exploring its application in the production of critical parts.
This training course is designed to support understanding of the principles of the technology, along with methodologies for product and process design, testing, qualification, and inspection, to fully leverage additive manufacturing in the transition toward Industry 4.0 and 5.0. This course will cover industry requirements for manufacturing safety and mission critical metallic parts, and how to achieve them through (i) design for AM, (ii) AM material-process-properties relation, (iii) process development and optimization, (iv) manufacturability testing, (iv) process control and monitoring, (v) development of statistically reliable design allowables, (vi) non-destructive inspection (NDI), and other related aspects in AM. Additionally, this course will discuss emerging trends in the AM industry with new developments.
The course program will also emphasize on the advanced design, manufacturing, testing, qualification, inspection, and certification aspects for successful implementation of AM technologies for manufacturing critical metal parts.
