Modern thermal management takes full advantage of computer simulations and design/design optimization to identify solutions that meets the constraints established by the problem, followed by use of a most optimum materials, topology optimization shapes, and applicable manufacturing techniques to produce a prototype and from there experimental verification to verify the computer simulations.
This course is offered in three modules that build upon each other to offer a comprehensive course in thermal management. Module I will cover Fundamentals of thermal management with a focus on examples that demonstrate the significance of these fundamentals to practical applications. Module II will cover case studies in thermal management in automotive, aerospace, and electronics cooling (including data centers. Module III will focus on innovative designs, materials, and manufacturing (IDM2) techniques for next generation thermal management engineering with diverse applications, including those in high efficiency energy conversion, power/propulsion applications. . For further details of the three modules refer to the course contents/agenda.

Engineers, researchers, and mangers in search of becoming updated on modern thermal management engineering involving an array of energy conversion, power generation, and thermal management applications and the significant opportunities they may present.
Case studies will involve examples in a number of industries, but with a particular focus on aerospace, electronics, power and process, and buildings/controlled environment applications.
A four year engineering degree or a technical associate degree and substantial work experience is expected to follow the materials covered in this course. An interactive style instruction will promote onsite learning, exchange of relevant technical information, and reinforcement of the information learned in the workshop.
